Privacy policy

Crave is a private dining diary for you and the people you choose to share it with. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and the choices you have. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics in the app.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see your password), and the name and profile photo you choose to add.
- What you add to Crave: the Cravelists you create or join, the places you save, your notes, the cuisines and occasions you set, ratings, reviews and the photos you upload.
- Location, only if you allow it: your approximate location when you search for a place, so nearby results come first, and your location on the Passport map when you tap the locate button. We don't store your location or track it in the background.
How we use it
- To run the app: sign you in, sync your lists between the members of each list, and show scores, reviews and your Passport.
- To look up restaurant details (name, address, hours, photos, rating) when you search or save a place.
- To reply when you contact support.
Who can see it
Places, ratings, reviews and photos in a Cravelist are visible only to that list's members. Your name and profile photo are visible to people who share a list with you. Nothing is public.
Services we rely on
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and photo storage.
- Google Places provides restaurant search and details. Your search text, and your approximate location if you allowed it, are sent to Google through our server to get results.
- Mapbox draws the Passport maps, which means the locations of your list's places are sent to Mapbox to render them.
These providers process data only to provide their service to us.
This website
This website (not the app) uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, so we know which pages are useful. It doesn't use cookies or identify you: it records the page, the referring site, and your browser, operating system and country, in aggregate.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Settings → Delete account. This deletes your account, your profile, and all your ratings and reviews, and removes you from your lists. Lists that only you were in are deleted along with their places. Shared lists stay for their other members, including the places you added, unless you remove them first. To also have the photo files you uploaded erased, or to ask for a copy of your data, email us.
Children
Crave isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
